My main purchase, and probably the most important one for this trip, was my first pair of hiking boots. Choosing a pair of boots is of dire importance, especially for a trip of this magnitude. Getting a blister would be very bad. Twisting an ankle; worse.
Senor Yermo gave me some advice when it comes to buying a proper pair of hiking boots. Here’s what I learned about my first purchase:
1. Try a few pairs on at each price level
2. Walk around, notice anything uncomfortable
3. More expensive/cheaper boots are not necessarily better boots
4. Don’t forget sock liners
5 Look for superior tread, arch and ankle support
